dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu araştırma, Türkiye’den Almanya’ya gerçekleşen işçi göçünün toplumsal, ekonomik ve kültürel boyutlarını Can Ailesi’nin bireysel hikayesi üzerinden incelemektedir. Makale Can Ailesinin 1967 yılında Almanya’ya gidiş sürecine, orada deneyimledikleri yaklaşık 17 yıllık tecrübelere, 1969 yılında Niyazi Can’ın öldürülmesine ve ailenin olay sonrasında yaşadıklarına, son olarak da ailenin 1984’te Türkiye’ye geri dönüşüne odaklanmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThis study examines the social, economic, and cultural effects of labor migration from Turkey to Germany through the personal story of the Can family. The article focuses on the family's migration to Germany in 1967, their nearly 17 years of experiences there, the death of Niyazi Can in 1969, the events the family faced afterward, and, finally, their return to Turkey in 1984.
