dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractGazi Eğitim Enstitüsü, 1926'da kurulduğundan bu yana önemli değişikliklere uğradı. İlk olarak "Orta Muallim Mektebi" olarak adlandırılan enstitü, daha sonra 1947'de "Gazi Eğitim Enstitüsü" ve 1980'de "Gazi Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu" adını aldı. Enstitü, Türkiye'nin eğitim manzarasını şekillendirmede önemli bir rol oynadı. YÖK’ün kurulmasının da etkisinin bulunduğu 1982'de enstitülerden fakültelere geçiş, öğretmen yetiştirme programlarını entegre etmeyi amaçlıyordu. Ancak geçiş, amaçları tam olarak karşılamadı. Bu nedenle 1997'deki düzenlemeler gündeme geldi. Yeniden yapılanma, eğitim fakültelerinin programlarını standardize etmeyi amaçlıyordu ancak nitelikli öğretmen eğitimi sağlamada zorluklarla karşılaştı. Birbirlerinin eksiklerini gidermesi beklenen farklı programlar eğitimde değişime değecek bir olumluluk sağlamamak ile birlikte bir önceki programın hedeferi ve başarımlarının yarıda kalmasına neden oldular.
dc.description.abstractGazi Institute of Education has undergone signifcant changes since its establishment in 1926. Initially named "Middle Teacher School," the institute later adopted the names "Gazi Institute of Education" in 1947 and "Gazi Higher Teacher School" in 1980. The institute played a crucial role in shaping Turkey's education landscape. The transition from institutes to faculties in 1982, infuenced by the establishment of the Higher Education Council (YÖK), aimed to integrate teacher training programs but did not fully achieve its objectives. Consequently, in 1997, further regulations were introduced. The restructuring aimed to standardize education faculty programs but faced challenges in providing quality teacher education. Diferent programs, expected to complement each other, did not bring about a signifcant positive change in education. Instead, they resulted in the interruption of the previous program's goals and achievements.
