Abstract

Bilkent Üniversitesi Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nün tarihi, kuruluş döneminden itibaren gelişme süreci adım adım incelenerek araştırılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Türkiye’nin küreselleşme süreci göz önünde bulundurularak bölümün Türkiye çeviri sektörü içerisindeki yerine değinilmiş ve ülkedeki benzer diğer bölümler ile arasındaki farklılıklardan bahsedilmiştir. Bölümün kuruluşunda etkin rol oynayan öğretim görevlileri ve bölümden mezunlarla görüşülerek konu hakkında içgörü edinilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu araştırma sonucunda Bilkent Üniversitesi Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nün Türkiye’deki yeri ve önemi ortaya konmuştur.

The history of Bilkent University, Department of Translation and Interpretation was investigated by the step-by-step analysis of its development process since its establishment. In this context, the place of the department within the Turkish translation industry was addressed and the differences between the department in question and other suchlike departments were mentioned. It was aimed to gain insight about the subject by interviewing the alumni and the academics, who had taken an active role during the department’s establishment. As a result of this research, the department’s place and importance in Turkey is presented.
