Kıbrıs tarihi ile ilgilenen bir iktisatçı: Erol Manisalı

Abstract

Erol Manisalı, Türkiye için önemli bir iktisatçı olmasının yanı sıra çok yönlü bir aydındır. Gerek özel hayatı gerek akademik hayatı nedeniyle Kıbrıs'a ve Kıbrıs sorununa hayatında büyük bir yer ayırmıştır. Tarih boyunca Kıbrıs, pek çok ülkenin üstünde hak iddia ettiği, tartışmalara yol açan bir yer olmuştur. Erol Manisalı da Kıbrıs adasında yaşayan Türklerin haklarının gözetilmesi, Kıbrıs tarihinin doğru bir şekilde aktarılması ve Kıbrıs'ı dünyada temsil etmek için pek çok organizasyonda ve çalışmada yer almıştır. Bu makalede Erol Manisalı'nın hayatını, Kıbrıs için yaptığı çalışmaları ve Erol Manisalı'nın gözünden, onun yorumuyla Kıbrıs tarihini ve Rauf Denktaş ile olan arkadaşlıkları araştırılmaktadır.

Erol Manisalı as well as being a predominant economist is also a versatile man of wisdom. Due to his academic standing and his personal life, he has devoted a large part of his existence for Cyprus and the Cyprus Problem. Throughout history, Cyprus has been part of a tremendous controversy surrounding which countries have the right to own this historic piece of land. Erol Manisalı has conducted work throughout his lifetime in order to rightfully explain the history of Cyprus, point out the rights of the Turkish settlement residing there, represent Cyprus on a global basis and has taken part in many studies as well as being representitive for many organizations that conducted them in order to do so. In our study we have evaluated the life of Erol Manisalı, the work he has done for the sake of Cyprus and using his own perspective researched the history of Cyprus and his friendship with Rauf Denktaş.
