Cemil Özeren: müzik kariyeri ve hayatı

Abstract

Cemil Özeren, 1990’larda Türk müzik dünyasına damga vurmuş gruplardan biri olan Ayna’nın iki kurucu üyesinden biridir. Özeren hayatı boyunca müzikle iç içe olmuş ve birçok farklı proje içerisinde müzik piyasasında yer almıştır. Bu projeler arasında Ayna’dan önce kurduğu Entalpi ve Ayna’dan sonra dahil olduğu Destan ve Cem-i Cümle grupları önde gelir. Özeren, Ayna grubu içerisinde ise rekor sayıda konserlere imza atmış olup 4 defa Kral TV En İyi Grup Ödülü’ne layık görülmüştür. 1990’lı yıllarda da Türkiye pop müzik listelerinde uzun süre zirvede yer almıştır. Yine aynı grupla piyasaya sürdükleri Ölünce Sevemezsem Seni şarkısı, ne hakkında yazılmış olduğuna dair spekülasyonlara neden olmuştur. Hayatının son yıllarında müzikten çekilen Özeren, kariyeri boyunca boğuştuğu yoğun alkol ve sigara problemlerinin sonucu olarak henüz 50 yaşındayken hayata gözlerini yummuştur. Bu yazı Özeren’in hayatına dair biyografik bir çalışma olmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, ana kaynak olarak eski eşi Güliz Köse ve ağabeyi Zafer Özeren ile yapılan röportajlardan bilgiler alınmış ve bu anlatılar sonucuyla Özeren’in müzikle tanışması, Ayna grubundaki çalışmaları ve solo kariyerine dair bilgiler bir araya getirilmiştir.

Cemil Özeren was one of the two founding members of the hit Turkish music band of the 1990s, Ayna. Özeren has dedicated his life to music and took part in the industry within numerous projects. Entalpi, which he founded before Ayna, and Destan and Cem-i Cümle that succeeded it are noteworthy mentions amongst these projects. Özeren has performed a record holding number of concerts, won Kral TV’s Best Music Band Prize four different times and topped the pop music charts in Turkey during the 1990s while working with Ayna. His song, Ölünce Sevemezsem Seni that he published with them has created numerous speculations about its subject. Özeren retired from the music industry during his final years. His struggles with alcohol and tobacco during his career have carried important roles in his early death at the age of 50. The purpose of this project is to provide a biographical account of Özeren’s life. Accounts of Özeren’s early music life, his projects with Ayna and his solo career have been gathered with the help of interviews from Özeren’s ex-wife Güliz Köse and his brother Zafer Özeren. These accounts have been pieced together to provide a chronological narrative.
