Türk Tarih Kurumu Arşivi ve bunun Türk tarihçiliğine katkıları

Abstract

Türk Tarih Kurumu, Türk ve Türkiye tarihini çağdaş sosyal bilim anlayışıyla araştırmak ve yaymak; ayrıca tarih araştırmalarını desteklemek ve toplumdaki tarih bilincini geliştirmek amacıyla 12 Nisan 1931’de Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün talimatıyla kurulmuştur. Türk Tarih Kurumu Arşivi ise Osmanlı Devleti’nin Dağılma Dönemi ve kuruluşundan itibaren Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Dönemini kapsamakta ve bu dönemlere ait belge, gazete kupürü, tefrika ve fotoğraf derlemelerinden oluşmaktadır. Bu yazıda Türk Tarih Kurumunun kuruluşuna, kuruluş nedenlerine ve ilkelerine, aynı zamanda Türk Tarih Kurumunun çalışmalarına değinilecek; sonrasında genel mânâda arşiv ve arşivciliğin ne olduğu üzerinde durulduktan sonra Türk Tarih Kurumu Arşivi kuruluşu, kapsamı ve Türk tarihçiliğine katkıları açısından özel olarak incelenecek ve Türk Tarih Kurumu Arşivi uluslararası arşivlerle kıyaslandıktan sonra Türk Tarih Kurumu Arşivinin yeterliliği uluslararası ölçekte değerlendirilecektir.

Turkish Historical Society was founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on April 12, 1931, to research and disseminate the history of Turkey and Turkish people with the understanding of contemporary social science and support research in this field, and improve historical awareness in the society. The Archive of the Turkish Historical Society, on the other hand, is a historical archive, consisting of collections of documents, photographs, serials, and newspaper clippings about the last period of the Ottoman Empire (1876-1922) and the period of Turkish Republic. In this article, the establishment of the Turkish Historical Society, its reasons and principles, as well as the work of the Turkish Historical Society, will be discussed. Afterwards, after focusing on what archives and archivists mean in general terms, the Turkish Historical Society Archive will be specifically examined in terms of its establishment, scope, and contributions to Turkish historiography. Finally, the adequacy of the Turkish Historical Society Archive will be evaluated on an international scale after the Turkish Historical Society Archive is compared with international archives.
