dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makale Orhaneli Termik Santralinin kuruluşundan önce Orhaneli ilçesinin durumunu, Türkiye’de enerji sektöründeki durumu inceler. Açılma sürecinde yaşanan sıkıntılar ve gelişmeler ele alınır. Faaliyete geçtikten sonra çok defa kapatılan ve yeniden çalıştırılan Orhaneli Termik Santralinin kapatılma sebepleri, çalışma ortamı hakkında bilgi verilir. Devletin özelleştirme kararıyla ihale sürecine giren bu santralin özelleştirilmede neden sıkıntı yaşadığı ve bu sorunun nasıl çözüldüğü anlatılır. Orhaneli Termik Santralinin geçirdiği süreçlerin yanı sıra bu santralin insan sağlığına, çevreye, bu bölgenin ekonomisine etkisinden; siyasi ve demografik etkilerinden bahsedilir. Son olarak Türkiye açısından enerji sektörüne olan katkısı açıklanır.
dc.description.abstractThermal Power Plant and the situation in the energy sector in Turkey. The problems and developments experienced during the opening process are discussed. Information is given about the reasons for the closure and the working environment of the Orhaneli Thermal Power Plant, which was shut down and restarted many times after it became operational. It is explained why this power plant, which entered the tender process with the government's decision to privatize, had difficulties in privatization and how this problem was solved. In addition to the processes that Orhaneli Thermal Power Plant has gone through, the impact of this power plant on human health, the environment and the economy of this region; Its political and demographic effects are mentioned. Finally, its contribution to the energy sector for Türkiye is explained.
