| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | Karamanlı Ortodoks Türkleri varlıklarını uzun yıllar Anadolu coğrafyasında sürdürmüş ve Anadolu’nun kültürel zenginliklerini içselleştirmişlerdir. Daha sonra ise Osmanlı devletinin çok uluslu politikasıyla beraber yaşamlarını Anadolu’da devam ettirmişlerdir. Karamanlılar, dini inanışlarının Ortodoks olması dışında dil, kültür, örf ve adet gibi milli değerleriyle Türklerle benzerlik göstermektedirler. Bu benzerliğin sonucunda Karamanlılar kendilerini Türk milletine bağlı hissederek Milli Mücadeleye destek olmuşlardır. Buna rağmen Cumhuriyet döneminde ortaya çıkan tek ulus politikasıyla beraber Yunanistan’a göç etmeye mecbur bırakılmışlardır. Mübadele sonrası Yunanistan topraklarında yaşamlarına devam etmeye çalışan Karamanlı toplumu kültürel çatışma ve aidiyet sorunları yaşamışlardır. Bu araştırmada Türklerin ortodoksluk ile ilk temaslarından Cumhuriyet dönemi sonrası Karamanlılara kadarki süreç incelenmiştir. Araştırma sürecinde Yonca Anzerlioğlu ile röportaj yapılmış ve birçok farklı yazılı kaynaktan yararlanılmıştır. Kaynaklar incelenirken Karamanlı Ortodoks Türklerin tarihsel geçmişi ve kökleriyle olan ilişkileri üzerinde durulmuştur. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Orthodox Turks of Karamanlides had been living in Anatolia for many years and they had indigenised the cultural wealth in Anatolia. Later on, they kept living in Anatolia with the cosmopolitan policy followed by the Ottomans. Karamanlides are very similar to Turks as language, culture, mores and national values except the fact that they are Orthodox. In relation with this similarity Karamanlides felt collateral with Turks and they supported the war of independence. However, they were obligated to immigrate to Greece during the Republican period. After the migration, Karamanlides community tried to adapt themselves to Greek territories while struggling with cultural conflicts and national identity problems. In this article the process between the first relation of Turks with Orthodoxy and post republican period of Karamanlides has been examined. During the research, interview with Yonca Anzerlioğlu has been made and many written sources have been used. The focus of the article is on the historical past of the Orthodox Turks of Karamanlides and their origins. | en_US |
