dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstract1936 yılında Ankara iline bağlı Pursaklar köyünde doğan Hasan Alparslan hayatı boyunca odacılık, muhtarlık, belediye başkanlığı ve bir konukevinin müdürlüğü olmak üzere pek çok farklı iş yapmıştır. Ailesi ve Pursaklar halkı tarafından sevilen ve desteklenen Hasan Alparslan, iş hayatı süresince çeşitli zorluklarla karşılaşmıştır. Muhtarlığı boyunca Pursaklar halkı için elinden geleni yapmış, ilerleyen yıllarda belediyeyi kurmak için fedakârlıklar yaparak 1987 yılında Pursaklar belediyesinin kurulmasını sağlamış ve iki yıl belediye başkanlığı yapmıştır. Belediye başkanlığı sürecinde de Pursaklar için çabalamış ve iki senenin sonunda farklı nedenlerden dolayı seçimi kaybetmiştir. Emekliliğinin ardından yaşamına ailesiyle birlikte Pursaklar'da devam etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractHasan Alparslan was born in 1936 in the village of Pursaklar, Ankara. Throughout his life, Hasan Alparslan has worked in different professions including chamberlainship, mukhtar, mayor and director of a guest house. Hasan Alparslan, who was loved and supported by his family and the people of Pursaklar, faced some difficulties while doing these professions. While he was working as a mukhtar, he did his best for the people of Pursaklar, in the following years he made some financial sacrifices to establish the municipality and in 1987 Pursaklar municipality was founded. From 1987 to 1989, he served as mayor. He also worked for the Pursaklar during the mayoral process and lost the election for different reasons at the end of two years. After being retired, he continues his life in Pursaklar district with his family.
