| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki tarihi eser kaçakçılığı problemi 1930-2000 yılları arası ele alınarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya tarihi eser kaçakçılığının genel boyutlarının analiz edilip incelenmesiyle başlanmış ardından Konya Beyşehir Eşrefoğlu Camii’nde yaşanan halı ve pano kaçakçılığının özel olarak incelenmesiyle devam edip sonuca ulaştırılmıştır. Çalışmada kaçakçılığın kültürel varlıklara zararlarından bahsedilip aynı zamanda bu zararların nasıl çözüme kavuşturulduğu yazılmıştır. Bunların dışında kaçakçılığın önlenmesi için zaman geçtikçe hukuksal boyutta ne gibi değişiklikler yapıldığı okuyucuya aktarılmıştır. Kurulan birimler, değiştirilen veya eklenen yasalar bu konuya yardımcı olmak için yazının bütünlüğünü bozmadan eklenmiştir. Yazıya katkı vermesi açısından dönemin Konya Vakıflar Genel Müdürü İbrahim Genç ile yapılan röportaj eklenerek yazının derinleştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu röportaj ile gerek Beyşehir Eşrefoğlu Camii’nde yaşanan kaçakçılık olayı ve ardından gelişen gelişmeler gerekse Türkiye genelinde 1930-2000 yılları arasında olan tarihi eser kaçakçılığı problemi somutlaştırmaya çalışılmıştır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This study examines the problem of historical artifact smuggling in Turkey from 1930 to 2000. The study begins by analyzing and examining the general dimensions of artifact smuggling, then proceeds to investigate the specific case of carpet and panel smuggling at the Eşrefoğlu Mosque in Konya Beyşehir, leading to conclusions. The damages of smuggling to cultural assets are discussed in the study, along with how these damages can be addressed. Furthermore, changes made over time in the legal framework to prevent smuggling are conveyed to the reader without disrupting the integrity of the text. Units established, laws amended or added to assist in this matter are included in the text. Additionally, an interview with Ibrahim Genç, the Director General of Foundations in Konya during that period, is added to deepen the study. This interview aims to abstract the smuggling incident at the Eşrefoğlu Mosque in Beyşehir and the subsequent developments, as well as the historical artifact smuggling problem in Turkey between 1930 and 2000, contributing to the enrichment of the text. | |
