dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractGastroenteroloji ve Hepatoloji’nin günümüz tıp alanında önemli bir yeri vardır. Dünyada Gastroenteroloji ve Hepatoloji’nin doğuşu 19.yüzyılda başlamışken Türkiye’de dünyaya uyum sağlamaya başlamış ve 20. yüzyılın ortalarında Gastroenteroloji ve Hepatoloji Türkiye’de de yerini almaya başlamıştır. Gastroenterolojinin Türkiye’deki öncüleri Zafer Paykoç ve Hamdi Aktan iken Hepatoloji’nin Türkiye’deki önemli öncülerinden biri Özden Uzunalimoğlu’dur. Gastroenterolojinin gelişmesinde GATA’nın payı oldukça büyüktür. Türkiye’de doğuşu ve ilk gelişmesi Ankara’da başlayan Gastroenteroloji, gelişimine İzmir ve İstanbul’da devam etmiştir. Gastroenteroloji geniş kitlelerin bilgi sahibi olması amacıyla “Güncel Gastroenteroloji” adlı dergiyle yayın hayatına da başlamıştır. Türkiye’de Hepatoloji için de birçok uğraş verilmiştir. Özellikle Gastroenteroloji bölümünün ilk kadın asistanı Özden Uzunalimoğlu kurduğu Hepatoloji enstitüsüyle elinden geleni fazlasıyla yapmıştır.
dc.description.abstractGastroenterology and Hepatology are two medicine disciplines they take a significant place in medicine. Gastroenterology and Hepatology started their studies in 19th century in the world and Turkey achieved to accord to the world because Gastroenterology and Hepatology take place at middle of 20th century. Zafer Paykoç and Hamdi Aktan are the pioneer of the Gastroenterology and Özden Uzunalimoğlu is the one of the important pioneers of the Hepatology in Turkey. GATA has an important role to enhance Gastroenterology. In Turkey, Gastroenterology was started and developed in Ankara and it was continued in İstanbul and İzmir. “Güncel Gastroenteroloji” is a journal about Gastroenterology. Enhancement of Hepatology cannot be as successful as Gastroenterology, however, there were so much occupation to develop Hepatology. Particularly, Prof. Dr. Özden Uzunalimoğlu, who is the first woman assistant of Gastroenterology in Turkey and founder of the Hepatology institute, strived so much to improve Hepatology.
