dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1990’lı yıllarda feminist hareketin kurumsallaşmasıyla beraber kadın örgütlerinin sayısının artması sonucunda kadınlar arasında iletişimsizlik sorunu ortaya çıkmıştır. Uçan Haber, kadınlar arasındaki iletişimi sağlamak amacıyla yayımlanmaya başlamıştır. Dergi, kadınları, 90’lı yıllar Türkiye’sinin farklı bölgelerinde faaliyet gösteren kadın örgütleriyle bir araya getirmeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu misyon doğrultusunda dergi içerisinde yer alan bölümlerde Türkiye’nin çeşitli bölgelerindeki kadınları proje yazmaya iten birçok örnek, çeşitli üniversitelerdeki kadın çalışmaları ve kadın mağduriyetleri ele alınmıştır. Bunun yanında kadın hakları ile ilgili olan hukuki düzenlemelerden ve kadınlara toplum tarafından dayatılan fikir ve rolleri tartışan çeşitli eserlerden de bahsedilmiştir. 1998 yılından 2000 yılına kadar basılı yayını olarak çıkarılan Uçan Haber dergisi, 2000 yılından itibaren e-bülten olarak çıkarılmaya devam etmiş ve günümüze kadar gelmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAs the number of women's organizations increased with the institutionalization of the feminist movement in the 1990s, the problem of miscommunication among women emerged. Uçan Haber started to be published as a necessity in order to ensure communication between women. In line with this mission, many examples that encourage women in various regions of Turkey to write projects, women’s studies in numerous universities, and women's victimization are discussed in the sections within the journal. In addition, legal regulations on women’s rights, various works discussing the ideas and roles imposed on women by the society were mentioned. Uçan Haber, which was published as a print publication from 1998 to 2000, has continued to be published as an e-newsletter since 2000 and has survived to the present day.en_US
