dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractAtatürk Üniversitesi'nin kuruluş fikri Cumhuriyet'in ilk yıllarından itibaren taslak halinde olan Doğu Anadolu'da bir üniversite kurulması isteğine dayanmaktadır. Bahsi geçen üniversite 1957'de Erzurum'da kurulmuştur. Farklı fakültelere sahip olan Atatürk Üniversitesi özellikle tıp fakültesi ile ön plana çıkmıştır. Tıp fakültesinde kuruluş yıllarında Hacettepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'nde kullanılan ve teorik eğitimden çok pratik eğitimi ön planda tutan entegre eğitim sistemi kullanılmış, sonrasında ise modern eğitim sistemi benimsenmiştir. Erzurum'a ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan pek çok yarar sağlayan tıp fakültesi, tıp alanındaki gelişmelere öncülük ettiği kadar kurulacak yeni tıp fakültelerine de örnek olmuştur. Bunların yanında fakülte, sağladığı sağlık hizmetleri, aldığı ödüller ve yurt dışı ilişkileriyle de ön plana çıkmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThe foundation idea of Atatürk University is based on a desire to operate a univerty in Eastern Anatolia, which has been in draft since the first years of the Republic. The said university was established in 1957 in Erzurum. Although the university has diverse faculties Medical Faculty come into prominence. In the early stages of the universtiy Medical Faculty used a system called entagrated edeucation system which was already in use at Hacettepe University Medical Faculty. This system puts emphasis on practical education rather than theoritical education. The University Medical Faculty improved Erzurum in economical and social aspects as well as leading new developments in the field of medicine. Moreover the faculty stand outs by its health services to the people, international relationships and won awards.
