dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractKuruluşu aslen uluslararası bir temele dayanan, 1963 yılı itibariyle Türkiye’de de faaliyet göstermeye başlayan Lions Kulübü, kâr amacı güdümünden uzak bir yardım kuruluşudur. İçinde Türkiye’nin de bulunduğu iki yüzden fazla ülkede varlığını beyan eden topluluğun ana ideolojisi, hakkaniyetli bir hizmet doğrultusunda çeşitli toplumların gelişimini sağlamak ve gönüllük ilkesini öncelikli olarak esas alan bu yardımlaşma ruhunu sürdürülebilir bir hâle getirmektir. Bir nevi hiyerarşik disiplin şemasıyla yürütülen kulüp, özgün kuralları ve demokratik yönetimiyle amacı olan yardımlaşmayı gerçekleştirir. Eşitlik ilkesi kulübün kesintisiz işleyişini sürdürmesini sağlar. Günümüzde ise Lions Kulübü, vizyonu ve misyonu bağlamında gerçekleştirdiği global faaliyetlerinin yanı sıra, Türkiye’nin siyasi merkezi olan başkent Ankara’da hayata geçirdiği aktiviteleriyle de amacı doğrultusunda ilerlemeye devam etmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractLions Clubs International is a non-profit charity organization, which was originally established based on international principles, started to operate in Turkey in 1963. The main ideology of the community, which has declared its existence in more than two hundred countries, including Turkey, is to ensure the development of various societies in line with a fair service and to make this spirit of cooperation, which is based on the principle of volunteerism, sustainable. The club, which is run with a kind of hierarchical discipline scheme, realizes its purpose of cooperation with its original rules and democratic management. The principle of equality ensures that the club continues its uninterrupted functioning. Today, the Lions Club continues to progress in line with its purpose, with its activities in Ankara, the political center of Turkey, as well as its global activities within the context of its vision and mission.en_US
