dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBursa, cumhuriyetin ilanının ardından başta Merinos fabrikasının kurulmasıyla sanayileşmek için ilk adımlarını atmıştır ancak aslen tarım ve tatil kentidir. 1960’li yılların sonunda TOFAŞ ve Oyak-Renault fabrikalarının kurulmasıyla özellikle otomotiv alanında pek çok fabrikaya ev sahipliği yapmaya başlamıştır. Bursa’da otomotiv sanayinde önemli bir yere sahip olan İrfan Demirdüzen, Oyak-Renault fabrikasında tornacılık yaparak otomotiv sektörüne girmiş ve sıfırdan başladığı kariyerinde Oyak-Renault'dan ayrılmış ve TKG Otomotiv A.Ş.’yi kurarak günümüzdeki konumuna kadar yükselmiştir. Bursa’nın ekonomik alanda yaşadığı değişimin ve bu süreçte yaşananların canlı tanığı olan İrfan Demirdüzen ve iş arkadaşlarıyla yapılan görüşmeler, İrfan Demirdüzen’in başarı hikayesine ve Bursa şehrinin sanayi açısından yakın tarihine ışık tutmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractAfter the proclamation of the Turkhis Republic, Bursa took the first steps to industrialize with the establishment of the Merinos factory, but it is actually an agricultural and vacation city. With the establishment of Tofaş and Oyak-Renault factories at the end of the 1960s, it started to host many factories, especially in the automotive field. İrfan Demirdüzen, who has an important place in the automotive industry in Bursa, entered the automotive sector by working as a lathe in the Oyak-Renault factory and left Oyak-Renault in his career that he started from scratch and rose to its current position by founding TKG Automotive A.Ş. Interviews with İrfan Demirdüzen and his colleagues, who are the living witnesses of the change Bursa has experienced in the economic field and what happened in this process, shed light on the success story of İrfan Demirdüzen and the recent industrial history of the city of Bursa.
