dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractDünyada sualtı arkeolojisine olan ilgi ilk olarak 15. Yüzyılda başlamış olup teknolojinin gelişmesiyle ilerleme kaydetmiştir. Sualtı arkeolojisi adına en önemli çalışmalar ise 20. Yüzyılda yapılmıştır. üç tarafı denizlerle çevrili, binlerce yıllık geçmişe sahip olan Türkiye coğrafyası başta Ege ve Akdeniz suları olmak üzere, sualtı arkeoloji çalışmaları için oldukça zengin ve cazip bir bölgedir. Bu anlamda ilk olarak 1960 yılında Türk hükümetinin izniyle Yassıada dalışları başlatılmış olup, George F. Bass, Oğuz Alpözen, Cemal Pulak, Aşkın Cambazoğlu ve daha birçok ismin katkıları neticesinde Bodrum Sualtı Arkeoloji Müzesi kurulmuştur. Dünyanın en önemli sualtı arkeoloji müzeleri arasında gösterilen Bodrum Sualtı Arkeoloji Müzesi 1964 yılından bugüne ziyaretçilerine hizmet vermektedir. Müze, Türkiye için ilk ve tek olmasının yanında, bugüne dek gün yüzüne çıkardığı batık ve değerli parçalarla Dünya Sualtı Arkeolojisi için oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe interest in underwater archeology in the world began in the 15th century and progressed with the development of technology. The peak of works in the name of underwater archeology were made in the 20th century. Turkey, being surrounded by seas on three sides has been an attractive region for underwater archeology studies. In this context, the first scuba diving started in 1960 with the permission of the Turkish government, during which the Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum was established with the contributions of George F. Bass, Oğuz Alpözen, Cemal Pulak, Aşkın Cambazoğlu and many others. Since 1964 Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum serves its visitors as one of the most important underwater archeology museums in the World. Besides being the one and only underwater archeology museum in Turkey, it has a great importance within the underwater archeology community since it surfaced valuable items and shipwrecks.en_US
