dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstract1978’te Turizm Gençlik Spor ve Halk Bilimi Araştırma Kulübü (TUBİL)’nün tarihinin araştırılması, 1980-90 döneminde toplumun gözünde halk oyunlarının yeri belirleyebilmek açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, öncelikle, Asya’dan Anadolu’ya göç eden Türklerin günümüzdeki Türk Halk Oyunları’nın temelini nasıl oluşturduklarından söz edilmiş, Türkiye’de folklor ve folklorun alt dalı olan halk oyunları konusunda yapılan çalışmalar ve kurulan organizasyonlar ön bilgi olarak verilmektedir. Bu araştırmada TUBİL’in kuruluş süreci, 1985 ve 1990 yılları arasında uluslararası alanda kazandığı başarılar ve başarıların artarak devam ettiği günümüz süreci anlatılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractResearching and understanding the history of TUBİL is an important factor do determine the place that the folk dances hold in the hearts of the Turkish people. This study gives preliminary information on how the Turks that migrated from Asia to Anatolia shaped the corner stones and foundations of the Turkish Folk Dances. It also gives preliminary information on the studies and organizations which study the Turkish folklore and a sub branch of the folklore, folk dances. This study focusses on the processes and steps that lead to the foundation of TUBİL, the international achievements by TUBİL on folk dances between 1985 and 1990 and the increasing number of those achievements to this date.
