Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti ilk Cumhurbaşkanı Yardımcısı Dr. Fazıl Küçük’ün hayatı ve Kıbrıs sorununun çözümüne katkıları

Abstract

Osmanlı yönetiminde birlikte sorunsuz şekilde yaşayan Türk ve Rum toplulukları arasındaki sorunlar İngiltere’ nin adanın yönetimini ele geçirmesinden sonra giderek artmıştır. Rum kesimde giderek artan Yunanistan’a bağlanma fikri de iki etnik grup arasındaki gerginliği arttırmıştır. Bu dönemde doğan Fazıl Küçük Türk toplumunun sorunlarını bizzat yaşamış ve çocukluğu ve gençliği boyunca milliyetçilik duygularını geliştirmiştir. Yurt dışında üniversite eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra adaya dönen Fazıl Küçük hayatının geri kalan dönemlerinde Türk halkının sorunlarını çözmek için birçok çalışma yapmıştır. Halkın sorunlarını yetkililere duyurabilmek için Halkın Sesi gazetesini çıkarmış, Kıbrıs Türk halkının örgütlenebilmesi için pek çok sayıda siyasi parti kurmuş ve birçok direniş örgütünün de içinde yer almıştır. Bu yaptıklarının yanı sıra Londra ve Zürih konferanslarında Kıbrıs Türk halkını temsil etmiş, Kıbrıs Türk halkını davasının uluslararası boyuta taşınması için çeşitli çalışmalar yapmıştır. Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin temellerinin atılmasında da önemli bir yere sahip olan Fazıl Küçük ömrünün sonuna kadar Kıbrıs Türk halkının gerek siyasi gerekse de sosyoekonomik ve kültürel sorunlarının çözülmesi için çaba göstermiştir.

After England took over the administration of the island, problems between Turkish and Greek groups, which lived together without problem under the Ottoman rule, gradually increased. The growing idea of joining Greece in the Cypriot Greeks has also increased the tension between these two ethnic groups. Fazıl Küçük who was borned in these years, personally experienced the problems of Turkish society and developed his feelings of nationalism throughout his childhood and youth. After completing his university education abroad and returning to the island, Fazıl Küçük did many things to solve the problems of the Turkish people in the remaining period of his life. He published the newspaper Halkın Sesi (The Voice of the People) to announce the problems of the Turkish people to the authorities, he founded many parties and took part in many resistance movements. In addition to these activities, he represented the Turkish Cypriot people at the London and Zurich conferences and carried out various activities to bring the problems of the Turkish people to the international level. Fazıl Küçük, who had an important place in laying the foundations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, made efforts to solve both the political, socioeconomic and cultural problems of the Turkish Cypriot people until the end of his life.
