dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractMezhepsel çatışmalar her zaman Türkiye tarihinin bir parçası olmuştur. Siyasi, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel alanlarda kendini gösteren mezhepsel farklılıklar, köklü ve geri dönülmez değişiklere sebebiyet vermiştir. Bu proje ile 1960'lı yıllardan 1980'li yıllara kadar Çorum'um Sungurlu ilçesinde Kemallılı Kemal'in başından geçenleri, aynı yıllarda Türkiye ve özel olarak Çorum'daki siyasi, ekonomik ve sosyokültürel yapı hakkında kaynak araştırması yapıp durum hakkında bilgi edinmek amacındayız. Kemallılı Kemal'in, onu tanıyan insanlar üzerine bıraktığı izlenimler, o yıllarda yaşananların insanlar üzerinde bıraktığı etki, insanların haberleşmek için ve zamanlarını değerlendirmek için yaptıkları aktiviteleri öğrenmek ve projeye açıklayıcı ve bilgilendirici bir şekilde aktarmayı hedefliyoruz. Konunun içeriği gereği olayın yaşandığı zamandaki Ceza Kanunu'nda araştırma yapıp o zamana göre verilen cezalara ve halkın kanun kaçaklarına karşı tutumuyla ilgili bilgi edinmek; Çorum ve çevresindeki Alevi ve Sünni olaylarının orada yaşayan halka olan etkisini detaylı bir şekilde okuyucuya yansıtmak ve olayla ilgisi olmuş insanlarla röportajlar yaptıktan sonra yaşanan olaylar hakkında bilgi toplayıp insanların hangi durumlarda ne gibi önlemler aldıkları, zamanın haberleşme olanaklarıyla ne tür yöntemler geliştirdikleri, problemlere bulunan çözümler gibi konulara açıklık getirmek; Yapılan röportajlarla, yazılı kaynaklarda aktarılmamış olabilecek detayları yakalamak ve yazılı kaynaklarla anlatılanları karşılaştırdıktan sonra bilgilerin yazıya başlıklar altında aktarılması başlıca amaçlarımızdır.
dc.description.abstractSectarian conflicts have always been a port of Turkey's history. These conflicts have shown themselves in political, economical and social parts and have sometimes caused irreversible outcomes. With this project, we aim to obtain information and explain the story of Kemallılı Kemal from Sungurlu, Çorum between 1960's and 1980's. We aim to express the effect of Kemallılı Kemal on the people that know him, what adults and kids of the events have been through in those years, what people used to communicate and what they did to spend their time. Due to the topic, our purposes are to run a search about and explain the penal law of those years and find how people of that era treated outlaws, reflect how the conflict between Alevis and Sünnis effected the environment and lifestyles of the people living near and after doing interviews with persons related to these events explaining what types of precautions the people of the era took, what methods they have enhanced to communicate using the opportunities of the time, what types of solutions they had to offer to the problems they encountered; using the interviews to obtain untold details which may not be in written sources and after comparing the data from the written sources, the final work is to write the data under titles.
