Türkiye'nin Beatles'i: Modern Folk üçlüsü

Abstract

Bu projede, Türk müziğinin değişimi ve gelişiminde mihenk taşlarından olan Modern Folk üçlüsü grubu incelenmiştir. Projeye Modern Folk üçlüsü’nün kurulduğu dönemdeki müzikal atmosfer ve bu atmosferin çok sesli Türk müziğinin oluşumundaki etkisi özetlenerek başlanmıştır. Dönemin diğer gruplarından farklı olarak yurtdışı konserlerine önem veren grubun, Türkiye’yi tanıtma ve temsil etme amacıyla yaptığı konserlere değinilmiştir. Modern Folk üçlüsü’nün, kariyerleri ve tanınmışlıkları üzerinde öneme sahip olan Eurovision şarkı yarışması ve Seul şarkı yarışmasına katılımları incelenmiştir. Eurovision şarkı yarışmasına katılım süreçlerinde TRT’nin rolü ve şarkılara uygulanan denetime değinilmiştir. Son olarak Modern Folk üçlüsü’nün kurulduğu günden bu yana, yaklaşık kırk yıldır, müzik hayatına devam ediyor oluşu ele alınmıştır. Proje kapsamında grup üyelerinden Doğan Canku ile sözlü tarih çalışması yapılmış, kendisinden projede değinilen konular hakkında bilgi alınmıştır.

This project focuses on the band that has become a cornerstone in the development of Turkish music, Modern Folk üçlüsü (Modern Folk Trio). The project starts with a brief description of the general musical atmosphere of the era in which Modern Folk üçlüsü was formed and the effects of this atmosphere to the shaping of Turkish polyphonic music. The article refers to the concerts given by the Modern Folk üçlüsü that differed from the other bands of the same era in terms of the importance placed on giving concerts abroad for the purpose of introducing and representing Turkey. This project analyzes the participation of Modern Folk üçlüsü in both the Eurovision Song Contest and Seul Song Contest which have big roles regarding the band’s career and popularity. The role of TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation) and the auditing performed to the songs in the process of participating in Eurovision are mentioned in the article. Consequently, the article refers to the professional continuation of Modern Folk üçlüsü for approximately 40 years since they were first formed. An interview with Doğan Canku, one of the band members, was done in scope of the project and information was obtained in accordance with the issues raised in the article.
