dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışma kapsamında, 1996 yılında “O Bir Radikal!” sloganıyla yola çıkan, dönemin medyasına yeni bir soluk olması planlanmış Radikal gazetesinin kuruluşundan yayın hayatına veda edinceye kadar geçirdiği süreç araştırılacaktır. Gazetenin genel yayın politikaları, okur kitlesi, habercilik tarzı ve Türk basınındaki yeri incelenecektir. Radikal kimliğinin oluşmasında rol oynayan Radikal İki ve Radikal Kitap ekleri toplumsal önemleriyle birlikte aktarılacaktır. Son olarak, gazetenin son yıllarında geçirdiği değişimler ele alınacaktır. Uzun yıllar boyunca Radikal bünyesinde farklı görevler üstlenmiş Deniz Zeyrek ile gerçekleştirilen sözlü görüşme araştırmamıza katkı sunacaktır. Radikal gazetesi duruşuyla Türk basınında özgün ve önemli bir yere sahip olduğundan araştırılmaya değer görülmüştür.en_US
dc.description.abstractWithin the scope of this work, the Radikal newspaper, which started its journey in 1996 so as to bring a breath of fresh air to the Turkish press of the time, will be investigated. The editorial policies, audience, journalism style, and overall role in the Turkish press will be evaluated. The supplements Radikal Iki, and Radikal Kitap, which played a role in shaping the Radikal identity, will be analyzed along with their social significance. Finally, the changes that the newspaper went through in its final years will be brought under the scope. The interview with Deniz Zeyrek, who held various positions within Radikal over the years, will contribute significantly to our work. Radikal newspaper has been deemed worthy of investigation, as it has an original and essential place in the Turkish press with its stance.en_US
