dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBaklava, Türk kültüründe yer edinmiş önemli tatlılardan biridir. Tarihi Osmanlı Dönemine dayanan bu şerbetli tatlı, ilk olarak Fatih Sultan Mehmet döneminde mutfak defterlerinde ortaya çıkmıştır. Baklava üreticilerinden biri olan Hacı Sabri Baday, baklava üretimine Gaziantep’te başlamış ve Ankara’da devam etmiştir. Bu araştırma yazısında, Hacı Sabri Baday’ın hayatından, kurmuş olduğu Baklavacı Hacıbaba firmasından ve şubeleşme sürecinden, bu süreçte karşılaşılan zorluklardan; firmanın bugünkü durumundan ve gelecek planlarından bahsedilmiştir. Mesleği ile ilgili gazete haberinden ve Hacı Sabri Baday’ın oğullarıyla yapılan röportajdan edinilen bilgiler ışığında özel hayatı ve meslek hayatı anlatılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractBaklava is a desert which held an important place in Turkish Cuisine Culture. This sugary desert whose history goes back to Ottoman Era, first record of it was in the kitchen books of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. Hacı Sabri Baday who is one of the baklava producers started his baklava journey in Gaziantep and continued it in Ankara. This research paper focuses on Hacı Sabri Baday’ life, his business and its’ expansion process, the hardships faced in this process, and what the business is right now and what it is aimed to become. Important informations are obtained from newspapers regarding his business and for more personal details his sons,who are running the business nowadays, provided the necessary information resulted in a comprehensive research about Hacı Sabri Baday’s life and his enterprise.en_US
