dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1950’lerden itibaren çeşitli teşvik ve yatırımlarla birlikte, işsizliği azaltmak ve ovalardaki pamuk üretiminin artışından faydalanmak amacıyla Antalya İplik ve Pamuklu Dokuma Fabrikası’nın kurulması planlandı. 1955’te bir devlet/özel sektör ortak girişimi olarak kuruldu ve 1961 yılında üretime başladı. 2004’te Sümer Holding Yönetim Kurulu fabrikayı resmen kapatma kararı aldı. Bu kararın ardından çeşitli el değiştirmeler sonucunda fabrika Antalya Belediyesi’ne devredildi ve fabrika için müzeye dönüştürme kararı alındı. Tesis son devirden sonra müze olarak faaliyet göstermeye başladı.en_US
dc.description.abstractStarting from the 1950s, with various incentives and investments, the factory was planned to establish the Antalya Yarn and Cotton Weaving Factory to reduce unemployment in Antalya. Furthermore, get benefit from the increase in cotton production in the plains. It was established in 1955 as a public/private sector joint venture and started production in 1961. In 2004, Sümer Holding Board of Directors decided to officially close the factory. After this decision, the factory was transferred to Antalya Municipality as a result of various changes of ownership, and it was decided to turn it into a museum for the factory. The facility started to operate as a museum after the last transfer.en_US
