| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Kadın polisler geçmişten günümüze toplumda önemli bir yer edinmektedir. Geçmişte ve günümüzde de bazı cinsiyetçi görüşlü insanların hedefleri haline de gelmiştir. Naciye Ekmekçibaşı, bu çevrede polislik mesleğini icraa eden kadın polislerden birisidir. Kendisi 19 Şubat 1969 yılında Türk Polis Teşkilatı bünyesinde çalışmaya başlamıştır. İlerleyen süreçlerde kariyerindeki başarılar onu, mesleği içerisinde yüksek pozisyonlara yükselmesini sağlamıştır. Ayrıca, Ekmekçibaşı’nın görevini icra ettiği bölgelerde suç oranlarını düşürmek adına çeşitli projeleri hayata geçirmiştir. Hayata geçirdiği projelerden bazıları: Düdük Projesi ve Kameralı Sistem Projeleridir. Naciye Ekmekçibaşı, yoğun iş saatlari boyunca çalıştığı için ailesini fazla görememe sorunu ile karşılaşmıştır. Günümüzde Naciye Ekmekçibaşı gibi başarılı kadın polis memurlarının sayısı arttıkça toplumun kadın polis üzerine sahip olduğu önyargıların azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | From the past to the present, women police officers have gained significant importance in society. They have also become targets of some sexist views in the past and present. Naciye Ekmekçibaşı is one of the female police officers who practice the policing profession in this environment. She started working in the Turkish Police Organization on February 19, 1969. In the following years, her success in her career enabled her to rise to high positions within her profession. Additionally, Ekmekçibaşı implemented various projects to reduce crime rates in the regions where she performed her duties. Some of the projects she implemented are the Düdük and Kameralı Sistem Projects. Naciye Ekmekçibaşı faced the problem of not being able to see her family much due to her busy work hours. As the number of successful female police officers like Naciye Ekmekçibaşı increases today, it has been observed that the prejudices of society towards female police officers decrease. | |
