dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractAraştırma konumuzun merkezi olan Konya Erkek Lisesi, günümüzdeki adıyla Konya Lisesi, 1889’da kurulduğundan beri hâlen eğitim vererek Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ndeki en eski okullardan biridir. Araştırmamızın amacı ise Konya Lisesinin 1970’li yıllarda karma eğitime geçiş sürecini incelemek, bu süreçte kız öğrencilerin yaşadıklarını ve dönemin çerçevesinde Konya sakinlerinin karma eğitime yaklaşımını anlayabilmektir. Araştırmamız kapsamında röportaj yaptığımız Sevim Atlıhan ve Hasan Kalfazade Konya Lisesinde okumuş sınıf arkadaşlarıdır. Sevim Atlıhan, Konya Lisesi karma eğitime geçiş sürecindeyken yazdırılan kız öğrencilerden biridir. Yaptığımız röportajlar dönemin Konyasını ve Konya Lisesindeki atmosferi anlamamız yolunda başta gelen kaynaklarımız olmuşlardır.
dc.description.abstractEstablished in 1889 and continuing education to this day, the center of our research, Konya Erkek Lisesi, known as Konya Lisesi today, is one of the oldest schools in the Republic of Turkey. The aim of our research has been to inspect Konya Lisesi’s transition to coeducation during the 1970s, to understand what the female students went through, and the attitude towards coeducation amongst Konya residents within the time period. The interviews we have held for our research have been with Sevim Atlıhan and Hasan Kalfazade, who were classmates in Konya Lisesi. Sevim Atlıhan was one of the female students who started studying in Konya Lisesi during the transition time to formal coeducation. These interviews have been our foremost sources in order to understand Konya in that era as well as the atmosphere within Konya Lisesi.
