dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürk televizyon kanallarının yayın kuşağına belli saat aralıklarında haber programları eklemesi üzerine Türk izleyiciler güncel ve gündemde olan haberlere ulaşma imkanı bulmuştur. Özel televizyon kanallarının 90’lı yıllarda artışıyla beraber de farklı alanlara odaklı ve tematik televizyon kanalları açılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu dönemde açılan özel televizyon kanallarından ilk özel haber kanalı özelliğini taşıyan NTV de böylece kurulmuştur. Cavit Çağlar tarafınca “Nergis Televizyonu” ismiyle kurulan NTV, 1996 yılı itibariyle yayın hayatına başlamıştır. Tematik bir haber kanalı oluşuyla yayın akışında tamamen haber programları yer almıştır. İlk özel haber kanalı oluşunun yanı sıra günün her saatinde haber yayınında olması ve farklı haber içeriklerini güncel şekilde sunmasıyla NTV kendini tamamıyla haberciliğe adamıştır. Hala yayın hayatını sürdüren NTV modern zamanda da televizyon, internet ve sosyal medya gibi mecralar ile birlikte Türk halkına çeşitli haberler aktarmaya devam etmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAs Turkish television channels added news programs to the broadcast band at certain time periods, Turkish viewers became able to find access to current and agenda news. With the increase of private television channels in the 90s, thematic television channels focused on different areas started to open. Therefore NTV, the first private news channel was founded with the openings of private television channels. NTV, which was founded by Cavit Çağlar under the name of "Nergis Televizyon", started broadcasting in 1996. In addition to being the first private news channel, NTV completely dedicated itself to journalism, with news broadcasting at all hours of the day and presenting different news content. Continuing its broadcasting life, NTV continues to convey various news to the Turkish people in modern times along with different fields such as television, internet, and social media. In this research, various sources about the history of Turkish television, television journalism in Turkey, and NTV are used. It includes interviews with Ahmet Ergen, Murat Akar, and Uğur Şevkat, who works at NTV.en_US
