Zekâ ve yetenek yuvası: Yasemin Karakaya Bilsem

Teknolojinin her geçen gün artan hızlı gelişimi ile beraber insanoğlunun da gelişimi hızlanmış ve yeni fikir arayışlarına girilmiştir. Teknolojik inovasyonların ve gelişimin hızının insan gelişiminde önemli oluşu, bu hızın artması için üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli bireylere olan önemi artırmıştır. Bunun sonucunda da uzmanlar üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli bireyler, psikolojik ve sosyal durumları ve onlara verilmesi gereken eğitim hakkında araştırmalar yapmaya başlamıştır. Eğitim modellerinin küçük yaşlardan itibaren uygulanmasının daha sağlıklı sonuçlara ulaştırdığını düşünen uzmanlar, özellikle üstün zekalı ve yetenekli öğrencilerin erken dönem eğitimlerine odaklanmışlardır. Bu sebeple üstün zekâ ve yeteneği tanımlamak için çeşitli yöntemler ve psikolojik deneyler geliştirilmiş ve söz konusu bu öğrenciler için özel eğitim kurumları açılması için planlamalar yapılmıştır. Ülkemizde de üstün zekalı ve yetenekli öğrencilerin eğitimleri için özel eğitim planlarına sahip bilim ve sanat merkezleri gibi birçok kurum açılmıştır. Bu makale ülkemiz için bir ilk olan Yasemin Karakaya Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi’nin, üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli çocuklara verilen eğitimde öncü olduğunu, tarihçesini, bu merkezde eğitim sürecinin nasıl işlediğini, ülkemizce önemini ve yapılan çalışmaları, programları, projeleri ele almaktadır. Buna ek olarak bu çalışmada, geçmişten günümüze üstün zekâlı ve yetenekli çocuklara verilen eğitimin gelişimi ve değişiminden, bu çocukların psikososyal gelişimi ve tanılanmasından, ebeveynlerin çocuklara karşı nasıl bir yaklaşım izlemesi gerektiğinden de bahsedilecektir.

With the ever-increasing rapid development of technology, the development of human beings has also accelerated and new ideas have been sought. The importance of technological innovations and the speed of development in human development has increased the importance of gifted and talented individuals in order to increase this speed. As a result of this, experts started to conduct research on gifted and talented individuals, their psychological and social situations and the education that should be given to them. Experts, who think that the application of education models from an early age leads to healthier results, especially focused on the early education of gifted and talented students. For this reason, various methods and psychological experiments have been developed to define giftedness and talent, and plans have been made to open special education institutions for these students. In our country, many institutions such as science and art centers with special education plans have been opened for the education of gifted and talented students. This article deals with the pioneering role of Yasemin Karakaya Science and Art Center, which is a first for our country, in the education given to gifted and talented children, its history, how the education process works in this center, its importance in our country and the studies, programs and projects. In addition, in this study, the development and change of education given to gifted and talented children from past to present, psychosocial development and diagnosis of these children, and what kind of approach parents should follow towards children will be discussed.
