dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | Trakya Lokantası, Eskişehir’de yetmiş beş yıldır hizmet vermekte olan bir esnaf lokantasıdır. Sarper ailesi 1945 yılında İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nın sonunda Yunanistan iç savaşa doğru ilerlerken Gümülcine’den Türkiye’ye göç etmişlerdir. Türkiye’de çeşitli sorunlar ve ekonomik kaygı yaşayan Sarper ailesi, 1946 yılında Eskişehir’de Trakya Lokantası’nı açmıştır. Yunanistan’da da lokantacılıkla uğraşan Emin Sarper’in ve oğlu ikinci nesil işletmeci Ahmet Sarper’in açtığı bu lokantayı şu anda üçüncü nesil Emin Sarper ve oğlu dördüncü nesil Gökalp Sarper işletmektedir. Zaman içerisinde Eskişehir’in de gelişimi ile beraber menüdeki değişiklikleri sayesinde Türk Yunan mutfak kültürüne katkı sağlamıştır. Sarper ailesi yetmiş beş yıllık lokantalarını kültürel farkların, çeşitli problemlerin üstesinden gelerek işletmeyi başarmıştır. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Trakya Esnaf Lokantası is a local restaurant located in Eskişehir and has been serving the locals for the past seventy-five years. The Sarper family immigrated from the Greek city of Komotini to Turkey in 1945 when the Second World War had just ended and the country had started to gravitate toward a civil war. The family, facing many challenges and economic concerns, opened their restaurant in 1946. Over time, with Eskişehir’s development, the restaurant managed to contribute to the Turkish – Greek cuisine culture by constantly renewing the menu. The Sarper family succeeded to run their restaurant for seventy-five years, despite cultural differences and many problems. | en_US |
