dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractözellikle 1980’li yıllarda gelişmeye başlayan turizm sektörü, o dönem Türkiye’ye büyük ölçüde turist çekti ve tatil beldelerinin ekonomisini ciddi anlamda kalkındırdı. Bu gelişmelerin yaşandığı dönemde, Türk girişimciler tatil beldelerini henüz Türkiye'de ortaya çıkmamış tatil köyü, plaj kulübü gibi konseptlerle tanıştırdı. Bu bağlamda; makale konusu olan Türkiye’nin ilk plaj kulübü Fly-Inn Beach’ in kurucusu, girişimci mimar Hakan Dalokay beach club konseptini çeşme’de hayata geçirdi. Bu dönemde turizm sektörünün gelişmesi adına devlet tarafından bir takım teşvik, hibe ve destek olmuştur. Ancak, Hakan Dalokay’ın devletten herhangi bir yardım veya destek almadı ve bu duruma rağmen başarılı oldu. Geçmişten günümüze Fly-Inn Beach birçok değişim ve gelişim gösterdi. Bu makale, Fly-Inn’in kuruluş sürecine, çevreden aldığı tepkilere, sektöre tutunma sürecine, alkol ve sigara kısıtlamalarınının yarattığı etkilere, kuruluş sürecinde karşılaşılan zorluklara, plaj kulübü konseptine kattıklarına, rakiplerinden ayıran özelliklerine ve kurucusu Hakan Dalokay’a ışık tutmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn Turkey, the tourism industry, which is mainly emerged in 1980’s, have drawn tourist and vastly contributed to touristic regions’ economic development. In this developmental period, Turkish entrepreneurs introduced potential regions with new concepts, which have not been emerged in Turkey yet, such as holiday resort and beach club. In this regard, founder of the first beach club in Turkey which is Fly-Inn Beach, Hakan Dalokay, put into practise this new concept as an enterprising architect. There have been many promotions, donations and assistances made by the government in order to improve tourism industry. Although Hakan Dalokay did not get any financial support and contribution from government, he succeeded. From past to present, Fly-Inn has changed and evolved in many ways. This article examine the process for foundation of Fly-Inn Beach, reactions of the çeşme community, adherence process for the sector, the effects of the restrictions for cigarette and alcohol, the attributions of Fly-Inn to the other beach club concept in Turkey, characteristics that distinct Fly-Inn from other beach clubs and a small biography of Hakan Dalokay.en_US
