dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractArkeolog, Ordinaryüs Profesör Ekrem Akurgal Ankara Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesi Arkeoloji Bölümünün kurucusu ve ilk öğretim üyelerinden biridir. Ekrem Akurgal, Atatürk tarafından düzenlenen Avrupa Sınavı'nı kazanmıştır ve öğenim hayatını Almanya'da geçirmiştir. On bir yıllık bir eğitim sürecinden sonra doçentliğini de alarak Türkiye'ye dönmüştür. Kendisi ülkemizde arkeolojinin gelişmesinde büyük bir rol oynamıştır. Klasik Arkeoloji için yaptığı kazılar ve yazdığı makalelerle sağladığı katkılar Ekrem Akurgal'ın dünya genelinde tanınmasına yol açmıştır. Ekrem Akurgal 3 farklı ülkeden devlet nişanına sahip, Bordeaux, Atina, Lecce ve Anadolu üniversitelerinden fahri doktora unvanı almış ve Ġtalya Premio Internazionale “I Cavalli d'Oro di San Marco”, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Kültür Bakanlığı Büyük ödülü, Federal Almanya Goethe Madalyası ödüllerine sahiptir. ülkemizin arkeoloji dalında sahip olduğu saygıdeğer birçok kişiyi kendisi yetiştirmiş ve arkeolojiye duyulan değeri hep daha fazla arttırmayı amaçlamıştır. Bu projenin amacı birçok kişiye yol göstermiş, Anadolu'ya bir ışık olmuş olan Ordinaryüs Profesör Ekrem Akurgal'ın hayatını aşamalarıyla yansıtmaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractArchaeologist, Ordinaryus Professor Ekrem Akurgal is one of the first faculty members and founder of the Department of Archeology at the Ankara Faculty of Languages, History and Geography. Ekrem Akurgal has won the Avrupa Sınavı organized by Atatürk, and he has spent most of his education in Germany. After eleven years of study he returned with an associate professor degree to Turkey. He played a major role in the development of archeology in our country. Excavations and the contributions he made to Classical Archeology have led Ekrem Akurgal to become known throughout the world. Ekrem Akurgal with 3 state medals from 3 different countries and he also has received honorary doctorates from Bordeaux, Athens, Lecce and Anadolu University also awards from Italy Premio Internazionale “I Cavalli d'Oro di San Marco”, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture Prize and the Federal Republic of Germany the Goethe Medal. He has trained many respectable people in our country's archeology branch and aimed to increase the value of archeology. The aim of this project is to reflect the life of Ordinaryus Professor Ekrem Akurgal, who has led to many people and has become a light to Anatolia.en_US
