dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu makalede Sümeroloji bölümünün Türkiye’deki temsilcilerinden İrfan Albayrak’ın hayatını anlatılacaktır. Makalenin ilerleyen bölümlerde ise İrfan Albayrak’ın Sümeroloji anabilim dalı hakkındaki yorumlarından, bilgilerinden ve alandaki yazılı kaynaklarından yararlanılarak Ankara Üniversitesi Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesinde bulunan Sümeroloji anabilim dalı anlatılacaktır. Türkçe ve Sümer dilinin karşılaştırılması, Asurca ve Akad dilinin Sümer dilinden hangi yönlerde etkilendikleri makalede işlenecektir. Türkiye’de Sümeroloji alanının yapıtaşı olan Ankara Üniversitesi Eskiçağ Dilleri ve Kültürleri Sümeroloji anabilim dalına, Ankara Üniversitesi Sümeroloji bölümden mezun olan İrfan Albayrak’ın katkıları ve Sümeroloji literatüründe bulunan yazılı kaynaklardan yararlanarak değinilecektir. Ek olarak, İrfan Albayrak’ın da hocalığını yapmış mülteci öğretim görevlilerine ve Sümeroloji anabilim dalının ilk mezunlarına değinilecektir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis paper will explain the life of İrfan Albayrak, one of Turkey's representatives of the Sumerology department, and the history of the department of Sumerology. In the following sections of the article, the Sumerology department in Ankara University Faculty of Language, History, and Geography will be explained using İrfan Albayrak's comments, knowledge, and written sources on the Sumerology department. The article will further discuss the comparison of Turkish and Sumerian languages and how the Sumerian language influenced Assyrian and Akkadian. Ankara University Ancient Languages and Cultures Sumerology department, which is the building block of the Sumerology field in Turkey, will be mentioned by making use of the contributions of İrfan Albayrak and the available written sources in the Sumerology literature. In addition, refugee lecturers who also taught İrfan Albayrak and the first graduates of the Sumerology department will be mentioned in this article.en_US
