dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | Yazının konusu coğrafi işaretli yiyeceklerden biri olan kumru ve kumrunun bugünkü tarifini ortaya çıkaran Hüseyin Pekmen’dir. Zamanla Hüseyin Pekmen tarafından tarifi geliştirilen kumrunun Çeşme’nin bir sembolü haline gelmesi ve İzmir Kumrusu’ndan farkları incelenmiştir. Bu farklar belirlendikten sonra makalenin ana konusunu oluşturan bölümde ise Hüseyin Pekmen’in hayatına değinilerek Çeşme Kumrusu’nun gelişimi anlatılmıştır. Özellikle Kumcuru Hüseyin işletmesinin açılma ve Çeşme Kumrusu’nun yerli fast food olarak ünlenme sürecinden bahsedilmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde makaledeki tüm konulara kısaca değinilmiştir. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The main subject of this research paper is Hüseyin Pekmen who created “Kumru” (an original fast-food sandwich from Çeşme, Turkey) which is a geographically indicated food. The paper mentions that “Kumru”, which was retouched its recipe by Hüseyin Pekmen, has acquired a status as a symbol of Çeşme, and it points out the major differences between the İzmir Kumrusu and Çeşme Kumrusu. The section constituting the article’s main subject commentates on Hüseyin Pekmen’s life story and the development of Çeşme’s Kumru, highlighting the establishment process of Kumrucu Hüseyin’s business and the course of Çeşme’s Kumru gaining exposure as a local fast food item.
