dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAlevilik inancı yüzyıllardır Anadolu ve Türk topraklarının sevgi ve hoşgörü temeline bağlı önemli bir inanç değeri olmuştur. Türkiye’de ayrımcılığa maruz kaldığı dönemlerden geçmiş olsa da hala bu inanç birçok köklü ibadeti içinde barındırmaktadır. Bu kapsamda Alevilik inancının Anadolu’daki önemli temsilcilerinden biri olan Hüseyin Doğan Dede küçük yaştan itibaren Alevi kültüründe yetişmiş ve bu geleneklerle harman olmuş önemli bir kanaat önderi ve siyasi aktördür. Hüseyin Doğan Dede 13 yaşında Alevilik inancının önemli bir rütbesine sahip olmuştur. Kurtuluş Savaşında ve Şeyh Sait İsyanı’nın önlenmesinde önemli rol oynamıştır. 1946 yılında siyasete giren ve bağımsız milletvekili adayı olan Hüseyin Doğan Dede, 1950 yılında CHP’den milletvekili olarak meclise girer. Bu araştırmada Hüseyin Doğan Dede’nin yakın akrabaları ve torunlarından bilgi toplandı. Elde edilen bu röportajlar ve hikayeler dönemin Alevileri ve onların toplumdaki yerini anlamada önemli bir rol üstlendi. Aynı zamanda onun hakkında yazılan çeşitli akademik makalelerden yararlanılarak yaşadığı dönemde ve Türk siyasetindeki yeri gözler önüne serildi. Hüseyin Doğan Dede ve ailesinin günümüzde halen Alevi inancına ve Alevi topluluğuna katkıları büyüktür ve Türkiye’de islam inancına ve bununla birlikte Alevi inancına olan bağlılıkları yadsınamaz.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe belief of Alevism has been an important belief value in Anatolia and the Turkish lands, which depends on the basis of love and tolerance for centuries. Although it has been through periods of discrimination in Turkey, this belief still holds many roots in worship. In this context, Hüseyin Doğan Dede, one of the important representatives of the Alevism faith in Anatolia, is an important opinion leader and political actor who was brought up in the Alevi culture from a young age and blended with these traditions. Huseyin Dogan Dede had an important rank of Alevism faith at the age of 13. He played an important role in the Turkish War of Independence and in preventing the Seyh Sait rebellion. Hüseyin Doğan Dede, who entered politics in 1946 and was an independent parliamentary candidate, entered parliament as a deputy from the CHP in 1950. In this research, information was gathered from the close relatives and descendants of Hüseyin Doğan Dede. These obtained interviews and stories played an important role in understanding the Alevis of the period and their place in society. Also, various academic articles written about him were used to reveal his place in Turkish politics and his period of life. Hüseyin Doğan Dede and his family still contribute to the Alevi faith and the Alevi community today, and their commitment to the Islamic faith in Turkey and the Alevi faith can not be denied.en_US
