dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makalede, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nde hem Cumhurbaşkanlığı hem de Başbakanlık yapmış olan Süleyman Demirel'in 1965-1971 yılları arasındaki Başbakanlık dönemi incelenmiştir. Bu dönemde Süleyman Demirel’in özel hayatı, siyasi hayatı, Türkiye Cumhuriyetine olan faydaları ve nasıl biri olduğu hakkında, onun ve ailesinin avukatlığını yapmış olan Mehmet Suat Çelebi’yle yapılan röportaj doğrultusunda incelenecektir. Makalede 1965-1971 yılları arasında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Başbakanlığı yapmış olan Süleyman Demirel’in avukatıyla olan anıları ve avukatının onun hakkında bildiği detaylı ve kişisel bilgilerle makale detaylandırılacaktır. Yazıda Süleyman Demirel’in, avukatı Mehmet Suat Çelebi ile tanışması, eğitim hayatı, ilk defa başbakan oluşu, bu dönemdeki günlük hayatı, halk ile ilişkileri, eğitime verdiği önem, dış politikaları ve önemli yatırımları yer verilecektir. Bu araştırma yapılırken yazılı ve sözlü kaynaklara yer verilmiştir.
dc.description.abstractIn this article, the Prime Ministry period between 1965 and 1971 of Süleyman Demirel, who served as both the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, was examined. During this period, Süleyman Demirel's private life, political life, his benefits to the Republic of Turkey and what kind of person he is will be examined in line with the interview with Mehmet Suat Çelebi, who was his and his family's lawyer. The article will be detailed with the memories of Süleyman Demirel, who was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey between 1965 and 1971, with his lawyer and the detailed and personal information his lawyer knows about him. In the article, Süleyman Demirel's meeting with his lawyer Mehmet Suat Çelebi, his education life, becoming prime minister for the first time, his daily life in this period, his relations with the public, the importance he gave to education, his foreign policies and important investments will be included. While conducting this research, written and oral sources were included.
