dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractDünyanın en eski danslarından biri olarak kabul edilen bale İtalya’da Rönesans döneminde doğmuş ve buradan dünyaya yayılmıştır. Bale, sahne performansında müzik, duygu ve hikaye gibi sahne faktörlerini içeren, jest ve mimiklerin vücudu uyum içinde hareket ettirdiği son derece titiz bir dans türüdür. Bu araştırma Türkiye’de erkek bale sanatçılarının rolüne ve geçtiği süreçlere yoğunlaşmayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında Türkiye’nin bale sahnesine katkıda bulunmuş isimlerden biri olan Ozan Demirbaş ile yapılan görüşme yer almaktadır. Bununla beraber 1950-2000 yılları arasında sahne almış olan baletler, baletler için teşvikler ve bu sanatçıların toplumdaki etkileri hakkında çeşitli gazete haberleri, makaleler ve ikincil kaynaklardan yararlanılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractBallet, considered one of the oldest dances in the world, originated in Italy during the Renaissance and spread worldwide from there. Ballet is an extremely meticulous dance form that incorporates stage factors such as music, emotion, and storytelling; where the gestures and facial expressions synchronize with body movements. This research aims to focus on the role of male ballet artist and their experiences in Turkey.The study includes an interview with Bahri Gürcan, one of the figures who contributed to Turkey’s ballet scene. Additionally, various newspaper, articles, journals and secondary sources have been utilized to explore ballet performers who graced the stage between 1950 and 2000, incentives for ballet artists and their societal impacts.
