Bilkent Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü ve Üniversite ile ilişkisi

Bilkent Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü, Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği ve Endüstri Mühendisliği bölümleriyle birlikte üniversitenin 1986’da eğitim – öğretim hayatına başlayan üç mühendislik bölümünden biridir. Bu bölüm üniversitenin ilk kurulan bölümlerinden birisi olması sebebiyle günümüze kadar kendi içinde önemli gelişmeler ve değişiklikler gösterirken üniversitenin diğer bölümlerine de oldukça etki etmiştir. Bu araştırmada bölümün kuruluş süreci, akredite olma çalışmaları, müfredat ve isim değişikliği, kurucu üyelerinin Bilkent Bilgisayar Merkezine yaptıkları katkılar ve üniversitedeki ikincil görevleri, kurucu üyelerinin araştırmaları, mezunlarının çalışma alanları ve üniversitenin ulusal ve uluslararası tanınırlığına katkısı anlatılmıştır. Bu konuların araştırılması Bilkent Üniversitesinin eğitim kalitesini ve vizyonunu açıklamak adına büyük önem taşımaktadır.

Bilkent University Computer Engineering Department is one of the three engineering departments of the university that started its education life in 1986 along with Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Industrial Engineering Departments. Since this department is one of the first departments of the university, it has shown significant developments and changes in itself, and has also affected other departments of the university. In this study, the establishment process of the department, its accreditation efforts, the curriculum and name change, the contributions of its founding members to Bilkent Computer Center and their secondary duties in the university, the research of the founding members, the fields of study of the alumni and the contribution to the national and international recognition of the university were explained. Researching these issues have great importance in explaining the education quality and vision of Bilkent University.
