Hungarian studies or Hungarology had its roots in Turco-Hungarian studies which were compiled in early 20th century. Its official status, as a department, came into being when Ankara University, Faculty of Languages and History- Geography (DTCF) was established in 1935. As a department, it received state subsidies and the field was reinforced with establishing a rigid curriculum which would attract many scientists worldwide. Compiled of Turkish and Hungarian academicians, Hungarology department involved in many lengthy academical studies which were successful in both regional and global scales. Such successes entrenched the Hungarology Department with recognition; thus, studies were hastened as an official field of science. Moreover, the professional academician László Rásonyi was appointed as the head lecturer so that he could advance Hungarian studies in 1936. Although the Cold War era had a stagnating impact on Hungarian Studies, it never ceased to operate. Hungarology persisted as a scientific doctrine which even carries out important studies today.en_US
