dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAhmet Taner Kışlalı 1939 yılında doğmuş, temel eğitiminin ardından Ankara Üniversitesi Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi’nde yükseköğrenimini 1963 yılında tamamlayarak Paris Hukuk Fakültesi’nde doktorasını yapmıştır. Doktorasını 1967 yılında tamamlamış ve Türkiye’ye dönüp göreve başlamıştır. Ahmet Taner Kışlalı, muhabirlik, akademisyenlik, Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nde milletvekilliği, bakanlık, köşe yazarlığı gibi görevlerinde gösterdiği faaliyetlerle hem öğrencilerinin ve yakın çevresinin hayatında hem de Türkiye’nin siyasi tarihi içinde kendisine yer edinmiştir. 21 Ekim 1999 günü evinin önünde bir suikast sonucu vefat etmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAhmet Taner Kışlalı was born in 1939 and then, after primary education, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences. He also studied for a doctorate in Paris Faculty of Law and when he finished the doctorate in 1967, he returned to Turkey. Ahmet Taner Kışlalı has worked as a correspondent in Turkey’s Republican People's Party, academist, parliamentarian, minister, and newspaper columnist. With these professions, he has gained a place not only in his kinsmen’s and students’ lives but also in the history of policy in Turkey. He passed away near his home due to conspiracy on October 21, 1999.en_US
