Tile-making is a deep-rooted art form that has been seen in many civilizations throughout history and has survived until today. A tile is made by shaping clay soil, baking it, and coloring it. While coloring, the motifs reflect the values of the period, the region, and the culture in which it is made. Tile has a wide range of uses in daily life, from pottery to decoration of architectural works. Today, tile-making has undergone positive and negative changes with industrialization and modernization. This research examines the change in tile art under the influence of industrialization and modernization and its impact on the Turkish economy and culture. The art and comments of tile artist İsmail Yiğit on the subject are also utilized for the examination.
