dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’nin doğa sporları potansiyelinin fark edilmesiyle birlikte bu potansiyeli kullanmak için yollar aranmıştır. Türkiye’de doğa sporları, temelde dağcılık ve kayakçılık üzerinden ilerlemiştir. Bu ilerleme Dünya çapında düzenlenen yarışmalar üzerinden olmaktadır. Başlangıç olarak doğa sporlarının teknik açıdan tanımları yapılmakta olup Türkiye’de gelişimlerine yol açan temel faktörler üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu alanda öne çıkan kişi, kurum ve kuruluşlar incelenmiştir. Sonrasında genel hatlarıyla incelenen bu alan, Erzincan ili özelinde gelişimi incelenmiş ve araştırılmıştır. Bu bölgede Erzincan ile bu alandaki alternatifi olan Erzurum ili doğa sporları potansiyeli karşılaştırılmıştır. Son olarak Erzincan bölgesinde doğa sporlarında, spesifik olarak, kış sporlarından kayak üzerine kurulmuş bir kulüp olan Erzincan Dağcılık ve Kayakçılık İhtisas Kulübü incelenmiş ve, son olarak, ileri gelen üyelerinden Aytekin Sanalan ve Yılmaz Ünal ile röportaj yapılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractEver since Turkey’s potential for outdoor sports has been recognized, people have looked for ways to best use this potential. Outdoor sports in Turkey have progressed fundamentally from mountaineering and skiing, this progress being made by international competitions. Firstly, in this research paper the technical aspects of outdoor sports have been defined and the reasons for the emergence of said outdoor sports in Turkey have been evaluated. The main individuals and organisations in this field have been researched. Furthermore this broadly dissected topic has been examined in the narrower example of Erzincan province. Erzurum and Erzincan provinces which belong in the same district, have been compared in this paper with respect to their outdoor sports potential. Finally, an outdoor sports club mainly focusing on winter sports, known as Erzincan Dağcılık ve Kayakçılık İhtisas Kulübü has been examined and a series of interviews have been conducted with two of the top-line members of the club, Vehbi Aytekin Sanalan and Yılmaz Ünal.en_US
