dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractDr.Skull, 1983 yılında Ankara Fen Lisesi'nde okuyan dört yetenekli arkadaşın bir araya gelmesiyle kurulmuştur. Kurulduğu yıllarda adı Skull olan grup dört üyesinin de tıp fakültesini kazanması sonucu Dr. Skull adını almıştır. İlk resmi konserlerini 1985 yılında gerçekleştirmeleri nedeniyle Pentagram'dan sonra tanınsalar da kuruluş tarihi itibariyle Türkiye'nin ilk heavy metal türünde eser veren grubudur. Özellikle kendilerine ait İngilizce sözlü besteleriyle döneminde türünün ilki olan grup günümüzde halen meraklıları tarafından takip edilmektedir. Grubun kuruluşu, dönemindeki müzik kültürüne kattıkları modern soluk ve müziksel aktivitelerini incelemek çalışmamızın temel yapısını oluşturacaktır.
dc.description.abstractThis study aims to reveal the alteration of Turkish folk music under the effect of Western music and culture by examines the band Dr.Skull. Dr.Skull is very first Turkish Band which use heavy metal in their songs. Their musical adventure between 1985-1996 and present activities are examined in this study. Information on this process are supported by interviews. Conditions that affect Dr. Skull, their albums, concerts and relationship with Turkish Music are analysed.
