dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTosya; Kastamonu’ya bağlı, çeltik ve dokumacılık ile öne çıkan bir ilçedir. Çeltik ise yağışlı ve nemli bölgelerde yetişen bir pirinç türüdür. Lezzeti ile öne çıkan Tosya pirincinin üretimine Osmanlı dönemi öncesinde başlanmıştır. Türkiye’nin ilk çeltik fabrikasının Tosya’da kurulması bu üretimi desteklemiş ve artırmıştır. Yetiştirilişi ve üretilişi bakımından birçok bitkiden farklılık gösteren çeltik bitkisi Türkiye ve Tosya’nın ekonomisine katkı sağlamıştır. Su içinde çimlenebilen ve suyun içindeki oksijenden yararlanan çeltik pirinci diğer bitkilerden bu yönü ile ayrılır. Çeltik üretiminde Tosya henüz potansiyeline ulaşamamış ve potansiyelini gerçekleştirme konusunda gerilemiştir.
dc.description.abstractTosya; is a district of Kastamonu that stands out with paddy rice and weaving. Paddy is a type of rice that grows in rainy and humid regions. The production of Tosya rice, which stands out with its taste, started before the Ottoman period. The establishment of Türkiye’s first paddy factory in Tosya supported and increased this production. The rice plant, which differs from many other plants in terms of its cultivation and production, has contributed to the economy of Türkiye and Tosya. Paddy rice, which can germinate in water and benefit from the oxygen in the water, differs from other plants in this respect. Tosya has not yet reached its potential and has regressed in realizing its potential.
