Abstract

1930'lu yıllarda savaştan yeni çıkan ve savaşın izlerini taşımaya devam eden Türkiye'yi kalkındırmak ve halkın eğitim düzeyini arttırmak amacıyla Hasan Ali Yücel ve İsmail Hakkı Tonguç'un önderliğinde, 1940 senesinde, Köy Enstitüleri kurulmuştur. O yıllarda halkın yüzde sekseni köylerde yaşamaktaydı. Bundan dolayı, Köy Enstitüleri'nin kurulmasındaki en önemli amaçlardan biri ülkenin en küçük birimi olan köylerin uygulamalı eğitim prensibiyle geliştirilmesi olmuştur. Bir diğer amaç ise eğitmen yetersizliği sorununu kısa sürede çözerek Türkiye'deki donanımlı eğitmenlerin sayısını arttırarak eğitim açığını kapatmaktır. Sıtkı Akkay'ın kuruculuğunu yaptığı, Balıkesir'in Savaştepe ilçesinde kurulan Savaştepe Köy Enstitüsü de ülke çapında kurulan 21 Köy Enstitüsü'nden birisi olmuştur. Dönemin çetrefilli koşullarına rağmen Sıtkı Akkay'ın özveri ve girişimleri ile 1940 yılında enstitünün temelleri atılmıştır. Bu araştırmada Savaştepe Köy Enstitüsü'nde eğitim görmüş olan İdris Şen'in röportaj sırasında aktardığı kişisel bilgilerin, Savaştepe Köy Enstitüsü'nde biriktirdiği anıların ve deneyimlerinin ışığında Savaştepe Köy Enstitüsü ve enstitülerin müfredatı incelenmiştir.

The village institutes was founded by Hasan Ali Yücel and İsmail Hakkı Tonguç in 1940, in order to reconstruct The 1930s post-war Turkey, which still carried the traces of the war itself, and to enhance the education level of the public. In those years eighty percent of the population was living in the countryside. And because of that, one of the main aims behind the foundation of the village institutes was to improve the education level using the practical edu cation principle in the smallest unit, the villages. Another aim was to close the educational gap by eliminating the problem of the lack of educators and increasing the number of qualified educators. Savaştepe Village Institute, which was opened in Savaştepe village of Balıkesir by Sıtkı Akkay, was one of the 21 village institutes opened throughout the country. Despite the complicated situation of the period, in 1940 with Sıtkı Akkay's devotions and initiations, the foundations of the village institutes was laid. In this research, the curriculum of Savaştepe Vil lage Institute and the institutes is reviewed using experiences and memories gathered in Savaştepe village institute and the personal information given by İdris Şen.
