dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractMilli park sistemi hem faunal hem de kültürel açıdan özel ormanlara daha etkin bir koruma sağlamak adına ilk defa 1872 yılında Yellowstone’da Abraham Lincoln tarafından uygulamaya konulan bir sistemdir. Dünyanın çeşitli ülkelerinde uygulamaya konulmuş bu sistemin ilk defa Türkiye’de zikredilmesi 1948’li yılları bulmuş, yasal olarak ise 1956 yılında kendine yer bulabilmiştir. Türkiye’de milli parkların ilk örneği, 1958 yılında milli park ilan edilen Yozgat Çamlığı’dır. Bu araştırmada Yozgat Çamlığı üzerinden Genç Cumhuriyet’in ormancılık serüveni incelenecek, Türkiye’nin milli parklardan öncesi ve sonrası karşılaştırılacaktır. Araştırma sırasında ormancılığa gönül vermiş bir isim olan Necati Uyar’ın tanıklıkları, çeşitli makaleler ve en önemlisi de Yozgat Çamlığı’nın milli park ilan edilmesi sırasında aktif olan yerel gazetelere başvurulacaktır. Cumhuriyetin erken döneminde tartışılan bir konu olan milli parkları irdelemek, Türkiye’de ormancılığa verilen değeri ve ormancılığın gelişimini anlamamız açısından gereklidir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe national park system is a system that was first implemented by Abraham Lincoln in Yellowstone in 1872 in order to provide more effective protection to special forests in terms of both fauna and culture. This system, which was established in various countries of the world, and was first mentioned in Turkey in 1948, and it legalized in 1956. The first example of national parks in Turkey is Yozgat Çamlığı, which was declared as national park in 1958. In this research, the forestry story of the Turkey will be examined over the Yozgat Çamlığı, and forests of Turkey will be compared before and after the national parks period. In this research, the testimonies of Necati Uyar, who has devoted himself to forestry, various articles, and most importantly, the local newspapers that were active during the declaration of Yozgat Çamlığı as a national park will be consulted. Examining the national parks, which was a subject discussed in the early period of the Republic, is necessary for us to understand the value given to forestry and the development of forestry in Turkey.en_US
