dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractPaşabahçe Vapuru 1950 yılında Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin siparişi üzerine İtalya'da Cantiere Navale Taranto tersanesinde üretilmiş bir vapurdur. Paşabahçe Vapuru, 1952 yılından 2010 yılına kadar aktif bir şekilde İstanbul'da hizmet vermesinden ötürü halk tarafından manevi olarak büyük bir değer görmektedir. 2010 yılında, eskimesi sebebiyle kullanımı durdurulan vapur İstanbul halkının başlattığı kampanyaların etkisiyle 2020 yılında Şehir Hatları ve İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından Haliç Tersanesinde restore edilmiştir. 12 yıl aranın ardından Paşabahçe Vapuru 2022 yılında yeniden seferlere başlamıştır. Bu yazıda Paşabahçe Vapurunun tarihi, restorasyonu, konu olduğu hikayeler ve geri dönüşü anlatılmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThe Paşabahçe Vapuru is a ship produced in 1950 at the Cantiere Navale shipyard in Italy, upon the order of the Republic of Turkey. Due to its active service in Istanbul from 1952 to 2010, the ship has great spiritual value for the public. In 2010, the ship was decommissioned due to wear and tear, and it was restored in 2020 at the Haliç Shipyard by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Istanbul Şehir Hatları, as a result of campaigns initiated by the people of Istanbul. After a break of 12 years, the Paşabahçe Vapuru started operating again in 2022. This article is about the history, restoration, stories and comeback of the Paşabahçe Vapuru.
