dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractResim ve güzel sanatlar eğitimi, Türkiye topraklarında, Batılı ülkelere nazaran daha geç başlamasına rağmen Cumhuriyetin ilanından sonra yapılan yenilikler ve çalışmalarla birlikte halk arasında yaygınlaştı. Cumhuriyetin ilanından sonra kurulan ve Anadolu şehirlerine öğretmen yetiştirmeyi amaçlayan Ankara Kız Teknik Yüksek Öğretmen Okulundan mezun olan Sevim Fenercioğlu, görev yaptığı şehirlerde gerçekleştirdiği çalışmalar sayesinde resim sanatının toplum içinde yaygınlaşmasına katkı sağladı ve çok sayıda öğrenci yetiştirdi. Bu araştırmada Sevim Fenercioğlu’nun mesleği ile ilgili belgeler, dokümanlar, kızı ve kendisi ile yapılan röportajlar ve saklamış olduğu kişisel arşivinden yararlanılarak Sevim Fenercioğlu’nun hayatı anlatılmıştır. Cumhuriyetin ilanı ile Türk toplumunda sanat eğitiminin gelişimini ve toplumdaki kadınların sanatla ilişkilerini anlatabilmek için Sevim Fenercioğlu'nun hayatı önem arz etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractThe education of art and fine arts, although starting later in Turkey compared to Western countries, became widespread among the public with the innovations and efforts made after the proclamation of the republic. Sevim Fenercioğlu, a graduate of the Girls' Technical Higher Education Schools established after the proclamation of the republic to train teachers for Anatolian cities, contributed to the popularization of art in society and trained numerous students through her work in the cities where she served. In this research, Sevim Fenercioğlu's life is narrated by utilizing documents related to her profession, documents, information obtained from interviews with her daughter and herself, and her personal archives. In order to understand the development and widespread of art education in Turkish society and the journey of female artists in society after the proclamation of the republic, Sevim Fenercioğlu's experiences and the period's art education are significant.
