dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada Türkiye'nin rakı duayeni olarak bilinen Aydın Boysan'ın Türk meyhane kültürü üzerindeki etkisi ve hayat görüşü ele alınmıştır. Aydın Boysan'ın renkli kişiliği, her insana hitap eden bakış açısı ve Türk toplumuna örnek olmuş doksan yedi yıldır ödün vermediği hayattan olabildiğince keyif almayı hedefleyen tutumu konu seçiminde büyük rol oynamıştır. Boysan'ın yazdığı 29 kitap arasında özenle seçilen "şerefe", "Doyulmaz Dünyamıza", ve "Bıkma Yaşa" kitapları detaylı biçimde incelenerek kişisel yaşamı, hayat görüşü ve rakı adabı hakkındaki fikirleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın genelinde, Aydın Boysan'ın hayatında bir keyif kaynağı olarak gördüğü rakı kültürü ile yaşama sevinci arasında bir köprü kurulması hedeflenmiş ve bu ilişkiyi şekillendiren unsurlar incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this research, the influence of Aydın Boysan who has a great knowledge about the way of drinking rakı on the Turkish tavern culture and his view to life are analyzed. The colorful personality of Aydın Boysan, his point of view appealing to everyone and being a model by those characteristics played a huge role in the process of topic choice. Moreover by examining the books “şerefe”, “Bıkma Yaşa” and “Doyulmaz Dünyamıza” detailed information about his life style and point of view towards rakı were collected. To generalise, the aim of this research is to form a relation between Aydın Boysan’s favorite drink rakı and his point of view about the joy of living.en_US
