dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmanın amacı Türkiye’de güzel sanatlar alanında akademiye kabul edilen ilk kadın öğretim üyesi olması ile Cumhuriyet tarihinde yer edinen heykeltıraş Prof. Meriç Hızal’ın hayatını sırasıyla çocukluğu, erken eğitim hayatı, yükseköğrenim hayatı, akademik kariyeri, eserleri, sergileri, yakın dönem etkinlikleri ve eserlerinin teknik boyutları bağlamında incelemekte ve bu etmenlerin onun sanat hayatına etkilerini değerlendirmektir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to examine the sculptor Prof. Meriç Hızal, who was the first female instructor in the department of fine arts in the history of the Turkish Republic. This paper examines her life in the stages of her childhood, her early school years, her university years, her academic career, her works and exhibitions, her activities in the recent history and the technical meanings of her work and how these factors correlate to her life as an artist, respectively.en_US
