| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Kadınların, erkeklere kıyasla iş gücüne atılması daha geç olmuştur. Bu sebeple kadınların iş gücüne katılım oranları erkeklere göre çok daha düşük şekilde başlamıştır. Yıllar içerisinde kadınların çalışma oranı artsa da, bazı sektörlerde kadınların çalışma oranı erkeklerin çalışma oranından daha düşük kalmaya devam etmiştir. Türkiye’de bankacılık sektörünün gelişmeye başlaması ile bankacılık kadınlar tarafından ilgi gören bir çalışma sektörü haline gelmiştir. Günümüzde birçok kadın tarafından tercih edilen bu meslek grubunda, kadın ve erkeklerin çalışma oranları birbirlerine çok yakın bir seviyeye ulaşmıştır. Fakat yönetici pozisyonundaki erkeklerin oranı, kadınlara oranla hala çok daha fazladır. Türkiye’de bankacılık sektöründeki az sayıda bulunan kadın yöneticilerden biri de Güzide Meltem Kökden’dir. Güzide Meltem Kökden’in deneyimlerinden de faydalanarak bankacılıkta cinsiyet ayrımcılığı, kadınların çalışma hayatında yaşadığı problemler ve yöneticilik pozisyonlarında kadınların az olma sebepleri incelenmiştir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | It took women longer to join the workforce than men. That is why, the employment rate of women has increased more exponentially compared to men as years went by. Even though the employment rate of women has been increasing each year, it is still lower than the employment rate of men. As the banking sector has developed, it has become a tempting line of work for women. In recent years, the employment rate of women has started to catch up with the employment rate of men. However, the rate of men in administration is much higher than women. One of the very few women who work as managers is Güzide Meltem Kökden. With the help of experiences of Güzide Meltem Kökden, gender inequality, the problems faced by iii women in workplaces and the reasons why there are less women in administrative positions are explained in this research paper. | |
