dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractMamak, Ankara'nın genel siyasi görüşünden ayrılmasından ve bünyesinde barındırdığı siyasi zıtlaşmalardan ötürü 1980 darbesini takip eden dönemin ağırlıklarının en sert hissedildiği yerlerden biridir. Bu çalışmamızda biz, tanıklarla yapılan görüşmeler, kaynaklar ve daha önce bu konu üzerine yapılmış diğer pek çok çalışmanın ışığında, 80 sonrası döneminin Mamak halkının sosyal ve siyasi durumunu, ve halkın yaşadıkları olayları inceledik. Bunun yanında, yine aynı dönemdeki Yüksek Seçim Kurumu'nu, yine tanıklar ve kaynaklar aracılığıyla incelemeyi hedef edindik.en_US
dc.description.abstractMamak, containing wildly differing political groups within itself and also differing from the city of Ankara in its political standing, has felt the weight of the post-coup 1980s Turkey's burdens significantly. This paper shall analyse the social and political situations of the folk of post-coup 1980s Mamak through the many different interviews conducted with witnesses and also through the usage of previous research on the matter. Furthermore, this paper shall also analyse the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey of the same era through, once again, the interviews conducted with witnesses and previous research.en_US
